Graz, Austria, Friday, June 1st and Saturday, June 2nd, 2012

“The schools that kids love have the quality of active learning environments, allowing students to become shareholders of their own learning.” (Rogers, 1969:9).

How can we as teachers set up a learning environment that promotes meaningful and better learning for our students? Four internationally acclaimed researchers and practitioners in the field of learner autonomy will address this vital question in their plenary talks:

Ema Ushioda, University of Warwick, UK

Apart from the four plenaries, there will be several rounds of parallel talks and workshops for which we invite contributions.

Call for papers

Talks should be 20 minutes plus 10 minutes Q&A, and workshops 60 minutes, with a short input from the speaker and concrete tasks for the participants to carry out. The contributions should focus on issues in language teaching and learning which have been successfully addressed by implementing aspects of a pedagogy for autonomy. We are looking forward to contributions from primary, secondary and tertiary sectors.
